Maileg is a Danish company that makes the most wonderful childrens toys and decor. They have a very distinct Scandinavian contemporary design and look created by the very talented designer and illustrator Dorte Mailil, one of the creators behind Maileg.
The childrens toys from Maileg are made in natural materials such as cotton, linen and wood in delicate colors.
Maileg’s award winning design has been presented at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Louvre in Paris and at Caixa Forum in Barcelona.

The Princess and the Pea is a wonderful fairy tail by the Danish story teller Hans Christian Andersen. Here's a VERY short version of the fairy tale:
A stormy and rainy night a princess knocks on the door to a castle asking for shelter. In the castle lives a prince who wants to marry a real princess. The old queen makes a bed for the princess and places a little pea under seven thick mattresses. In the morning she asks the princess how she slept and the princess answer: "I had an awful night! It was like I was lying on a stone". Then they knew that she was a real princess, because only a real princess would be able to feel a tiny pea under seven thick mattresses.
Maileg's adorable princess is a knitted beauty with blond curly hair, a gold crown and golden shoes. She's lying in a white wooden bed on top of seven thick mattresses in various patterns and colors and under all the mattresses there is a knitted pea. She also has a little blanket and pillow.
This is an amazing set that any romantic little girl will just love!!
The Princess and the Pea includes a little book with the story interpreted and wonderfully illustrated by Dorte Mailil, the designer behind Maileg.
