Noah and I love to go to the library and since it’s just about 10 min walk from us, it’s a great little trip, and we often go there during the weekends. He will look at cartoons and flip through a couple of books that I give him, while I will explore the shelves for books to bring home.
The main library in Levis is located in an old church, and it’s such a beautiful place with the high ceilings, the stunning stained glass windows and the beautiful wooden pulpit. Our local library is very small and has, obviously, a much smaller selection of books. Nevertheless, they have quite a lot of children’s books, and we still have a lot to read! Favorite topics are monsters, wild animals, pirates and dinosaurs – didn’t find any pirate books this time, but otherwise we came home with a pretty good collection.
The story Noah loves the most right now is without doubt “The Gruffalo”. I’m not sure if he really gets the point of the story, but it doesn’t matter. He memorized most of the book, so we read the story together and he will do the part of the mouse (to the letter, which I find quite amazing). When we hear an unfamiliar sound, we look at each other and shout: “the Gruffalo!”, we lock the door at night so the Gruffalo can’t get in, and if there’s something we can’t find – it’s probably the Gruffalo who took it. The Gruffalo has become our friendly monster – a little bit scary, but just for fun, and we love him!
If you don’t know the lovely story of the Gruffalo, you can see and hear it in this video from readaloudbooks4kids:

We went down the slopes in inflated tubes, and it’s so much fun!! There is one person in a tube, and the tube turns and revolves on the way down, which enhances the fun. On an icy slope the tube goes pretty fast and everybody loved it! A really great winter activity to do with kids.
